On July 1st, 2011, CIC reduced the number of applications allowed to be submitted under the Federal Skilled Worker program (under the 29 occupations list) to a maximum of 10,000 applications for this coming year. A maximum of 500 applications will be allowed for each of the 29 occupations. CIC also reduced the number of investor applications to be reviewed this year to a maximum of 750 applications. Unfortunately they maximum of allowed applications has already been met. In addition, they are not accepting any entrepreneur applications under the Federal program. The Canadian government has begun the process of revoking the citizenship of those whom would have obtained it fraudulently. The government will revoke the citizenship of 1, 800 people, largely believed to be currently living overseas. The government has stated that this is the first wave of revocations, and that there will be more revocations of citizenship in the near future.
